Xceptional Productions are delighted to be delivering the arts engagement programme for “Managing a Masterpiece”. Over the last few weeks we have met with local artists, schools, community groups and venues across the valley to start devising the individual projects. It promises to be an exciting and ambitious programme.

Between June 2012 and April 2013 there will be a series of local events designed to celebrate the rich artistic history of this area. The Stour Valley is unique in the UK in the way it has been home to so many artists of the standing of Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable. The area has been an inspiration for painters and writers over the centuries. Sir Alfred Munnings, the famous society and equestrian artist lived at Dedham. The landscape artist John Nash lived at Wormingford. Ronald Blythe, the well known chronicler of village life, still lives at Wormingford in a parish which he has made famous through his writing.
The arts programme will take some of these artist work and the landscape that inspired them as the starting point for the programme. There will be opportunities for local artists to get involved, projects with schools and a Poet of the Valley. There will also be a visual arts project with people with visual impairments and some innovative off-the-wall events that will produce new approaches to some old masters.
